Drama: Black & Gold

When I think of drama I think of old movies and the color combo black & gold.
Old Hollywood glam inspires me a lot. I've always been drawn to the fashion, movies, and style. I truly believe I'm an old soul.
I saw two inspiring images so I decided to whip up a inspiration board with a dessert table spread.
Black & Gold = glamorous high style

Fashion Meets Party: Color Blocking

This color blocking fashion trend i am totally on board for, and I think it would be just as fab for a party. How do you see a bunch of bright colors and it not scream a fun time.

Gucci debuted their 2011 summer trend..

Some celebrities took the trend and ran with it..

Then we did an inspiration board for a color blocking party

If the base color of your decor is white, add some color blocking details with the serving bowls, table cloths, or napkins.

Or just the sweets :)

Something Blue

Blue has been connected to weddings for centuries. In ancient Rome, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns as evidenced in proverbs like, "Marry in blue, lover be true."

Monaco Royal Wedding

Ahhh Monaco, a true slice of heaven.
Prince Albert II of Monaco finally marries Charlene Wittstock
Royal weddings make fairy tales come to life I think.

The two were wed in a intimate civil ceremony.
Then had a grand traditional wedding day to follow.

Here is were the civil ceremony took place. They sat in the same chairs Prince Albert II's parents were wed in.

I think Princess Charlene really resembles her late mother-in-law Princess Grace.

April 1956, Hollywood Actress, Grace Kelly,
married Rainier III, Prince of Monaco

Check out those bridesmaid dresses.

Wedding gown by Armani.

I like how she changed to a simple gown for the reception.
And i wish I could have a lil slice of that cake!

Yum Spot of the week: LA edition

Los Angeles has many amazing spots to eat but i found a few i really love.

First lets start out with the most important meal of the day: dessert.

This bakery not only is in a cool part of L.A. but its design and sweets are creative and tasty.
They even had a section of the shop where the bakers were frosting and
baking all sorts of delicious treat and the public is free to observe.

My nose was pressed up against the glass like a hungry lil piggy.

Even their diet coke was cute

This mini cheesecake was out of this world.

We also got two cupcakes and a peanut butter
sandwich treat and i was in love with all of them.

Then dinner my phone lead me to the highest rated taco place in L.A. and the rating didn't lie. The prices were low and the service & flavors were high.

The place was a little hard to find and honestly felt like i was entering a Speak Easy during the great depression with how secretive it seemed. We got four flavors of tacos and they all were amazing.
I'm definitely returning to this place

Sorry the pic is awful, it was a lil dark

Oh and the Original Farmer's Market in L.A. is filled with amazing food.
If you go you have to try something from The French Crepe Co.

And please bring me back a La Chez Moi (nutella crepe from heaven)
and i'll love you forever.

Inspiration weekend in L.A.

Friday morning at 5:30am my mama and i decided to ship out to Cali because it happened to be callin' our names. We headed straight to the textile district (our home away from home) and looked at all new fabrics for table linens and walked away with some exciting fabrics & new colors to add to my petal linens.

overwhelming huh?
It's a little more when there is no AC in the summer months...

But once we were finished with the business part of the trip
we gladly moved onto the pleasure part!!

Moved onto the design district:

I will admit i have a very different style than most people, sort of a "design schizophrenia"
but if i diagnosed my style it would be "Industrial Elegance" or something like that..but my fave store ever which just opened their largest & most grand location a week ago in LA:

Restoration Hardware

This was the entrance. An amazing outdoor patio

I'm obsessed with these caged chandiliers.

Most beautiful sectional ever award goes too:

A little study vignette

I love this conversational area on the patio

Aren't these wooden winged-back chairs awesome for outside?
Someone please show these to a carpenter and make them for me.

Grand outdoor zinc dining table with sunbrella covered chairs

Even the bathrooms were fabulous
This female silhouette was to distinguish the ladies room

The next few rooms are for the men

This store is two stories and valet parking alone..but it was totally worth parking far away and scrablling for quarter for our meter while spending about 2 hours inside.

And as we were leaving their amazing on-site florist, Eddie Z.
made us fresh bouquets for us to take with us.

I love people like that.

 Style Schizophrenic Alert!

Another cool store, but totally different, we spent time in is called

A little more whimsical, but definitely for my style alter ego.

Those chairs look so comfy for some reason..

5901 W. 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90036

After that we went to the Tim Burton Exhibit at LACMA.

I am a big Tim Burton fan so I was enjoyed this exhibit sooooo much.
It was so quirky but a different kind of inspiration.

Another cool store we liked:

And then finished it with some other great inspiration here:

I still need some time to process the other grand ideas we got but it was a marathon of a weekend.
i can't wait to return. Whose coming with me next trip?!

Stay tuned for post on the new inventory we bought!
